Web design trends are dynamic and change from year to year. It really keeps us site designers on our toes as we must constantly be willing to adapt.
What content is to your website, typography is to your web design.
Throughout 2014 and continuing into 2015, typography variety in terms of size and styling, will be considered a mainstream design element. Designers will mix and match fonts on their sites, particularly in page headers and headings, where large fonts can help quickly and effectively communicate the purpose of the site.
Because of increased screen resolutions, the standard 12 point font is no longer as readable as it was before. The trend of choosing fonts that are conducive to easier reading on the web, use clean lines and are sharp and crisp – but still visually interesting, are the ones that have become and will remain the most popular.
No longer will the standard old serif or san-serif fonts such as Georgia, Times New Roman, Arial and Helvetica be over-used! The reality is that high-quality fonts with a little uniqueness and that are aesthetically attractive will continue to be the focus. There are literally thousands of fonts and combinations to choose from so web design will be pretty exciting as this trend continues to evolve!
