BTW: Ten Things Successful People Do During Their Lunch Breaks – an infographic by the team at Noticeboards Online Ltd. Referring back to last week’s post about Why Images are Important in Your Marketing, this is an example of a cool infographic – a type of visual creation essential for engaging your online visitors.

Why Images are Important in Your MarketingHave you ever wondered about the impact or importance of adding an image to your website post or social media platforms and whether they really make that much of a difference? If the answer’s yes, this article is for you!

It’s true that visuals such as images, videos, infographics or any type of visual creations are a necessity for engaging your online visitors. Your choice of visuals help to tell a story, share a message, and give your text content context. It seems that people can’t get enough of a good visual and articles with images get significantly more total views.

Tina Courtney, online marketer, web executive, and multi-faceted writer for SitePro News stated in a recent article, Image Optimization: The Achilles Heel of SEO:

“When images are integrated with blog posts, social updates, or even sent to a friend via text, they instantly become more compelling. When it
comes to marketing to audiences across the Web, visuals are needed to pull attention away from all of the other distractions competing for a
user’s interest. No matter if the image is one you captured yourself, or a beauty that came from one of the many photography sites around the
Web, they are needed to keep people engaged and to improve SEO.”

So on that note, you can see that the benefits are actually enormous. If you need further convincing, read how and why you should use images in your business communications, marketing and social networks at:

Yes, in today’s business environment of online marketing, if you have a business, you really should have a website. Period. A website is not only a way of reaching more potential customers, but it will help your business gain credibility by virtue of being traceable and accessible over the Internet.

Our most recent client, ALBERTA N2, has been in business for many years without a website, but recently decided that he’d like to have a presence on the net. The owner’s request was to have primarily a one-page site with an overview of his business with a few key support pages, i.e., a quote form, an image gallery and a contact page.

Our client requested that his site be easy to navigate, quick and functional, ready to launch within a week, and within his very limited budget. This past few days we created a small, but current site design featuring all his business/company’s key information and are happy to announce that ALBERTA N2.ca has been launched! You can click the image below to view the live site.

In addition, the owner requested a mobile phone app with his business contact information to connect with his customers fast. We created a one-touch dialing app so that his customers can call his business with a single click.

Moral of the story…

WordPress website owners, I have a sneaking suspicion I know what you’re going to say! Either:

  • you didn’t know you had a Dashboard…what is it anyway?
  • you check it every once in a while, when it crosses your mind, so consequently you never really know if and when updates are available
  • you noticed the updates in your Dashboard, but are never sure if it’s safe to go ahead and update so you don’t bother because you don’t want to risk your site being offline
  • when you’re busy running your business, logging into the back end of your site to check for updates is the last thing on your mind

If any of the above apply to you, you may want to continue reading!

First and foremost, your Dashboard is the back end of your site, the behind-the-scenes part that isn’t visible to the public; the place your WordPress functions such as plugins, themes, spam, comments and the core itself reside.

It’s super important to use the latest version of WordPress and keep your Dashboard updated.

When you don’t update your WordPress site you are risking your website security and missing out on all the most recent improvements the open source developers have added. With each new WordPress release, new features are added, performance is improved, bugs are fixed, and existing features are enhanced to stay up to date with industry standards.

WordPress comes with a built-in update notification system and whenever there is a new update, it highlights the number of available updates when you log into your WordPress Dashboard. I know, I hear you, constant monitoring and staying up to date can be tedious and time consuming.

If you’d rather spend your time running your business and attracting new clients rather than spending your time on site maintenance, we can help!

We’ll update your Dashboard for you on a consistent basis to ensure your website is running on the latest version of WordPress so that you can benefit from all the latest features, fixes and improvements that WordPress has to offer.

At the beginning of September we announced that we were working on a website re-design for our client, Discovery Music. We’ve been hard at it for the past couple of weeks and the website’s now launched and live! Our clients are pleased, think it’s a great looking and functional site, and are really proud if it. That makes it all worth it!

That’s right! We’ve launched another new website. This time we’ve developed a cool little site, Score the Play, which promotes a coaching app to keep track of hockey players of all ages ice time and great plays and to help them improve their game. It is a fully responsive website on all types of mobile devices and phones. Responsive design is used to allow one’s website to adapt automatically to your visitor.

We wish our client the best of luck with their new and exciting endeavour!
